The Elsie S. Bellows Fund, operated by United Cerebral Palsy, provides grants for purchasing assistive technology equipment that increases, maintains or improves the functional capabilities of individuals with disabilities in the community.

Earnings from the principal of this fund are allocated on an annual basis by United Cerebral Palsy to UCP Huntsville and other affiliates.

Applications must be typed.  Applications will be accepted until 2020 funding is depleted.

The Elsie S. Bellows Fund provides funds to UCP Huntsville and other affiliates to purchase AT equipment on behalf of eligible applicants.

Examples of eligible assistive technology might include:

  • Wheelchairs (manual and electric)
  • Augmentative communication devices (ACD)
  • Environmental controls, including switches
  • Computer equipment
  • Lifts in the applicant’s own or nominee’s parent’s van or home

Examples of ineligible assistive technology include:

  • Automobiles
  • Evaluations of other assistive technology “services”
  • Standard furniture and appliances (that are not adapted)
