Helping Those Who Care Aging Caregiver Trainings Statewide Calendar
June 27 @ 8:00 am - August 8 @ 5:00 pm
UCP Huntsville presents the Helping Those Who Care statewide training program for aging caregivers of care recipients with developmental disabilities. The goal of Helping Those Who Care is to help caregivers understand the long-term benefits of planning for the future, gain access to community supports, understand and use assistive technology to reduce caregiver dependency, and maintain and/or improve social, emotional and physical wellbeing.
Helping Those Who Care offers trainings statewide at cooperating agencies for aging caregivers of care recipients with developmental disabilities. Each training will provide one hour of The Universal Approach to Aging Caregiver Wellbeing, Community Supports for the Aging Caregiver, Planning for the Future as an Aging Caregiver, or Assistive Technology to Aid Aging Caregivers.
Each training will conclude with an opportunity for participants to interact, including refreshments and community resources, and each participant will be offered a $50 caregiving assistance stipend, which will increase the ability for participants to attend training while entrusting the care recipient with a paid temporary caregiver
Additionally, UCP Huntsville staff is available Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m., (normal business days) via phone and email to assist any aging caregiver of a care recipient with a developmental disability with technical assistance, training information, and resource referral.
